What will I learn?
The workshop will build on the music theory and composition skills gained at level 4 study, aiming to define music theory and how to engage with it creatively at a higher level.
Further topics covered will include the relationship between chords and scales, the relationship between rhythm and harmony and chromaticism and how to use it. Ahead of the workshop please fill out this questionnaire which will inform the focus of the workshop.
Who is the workshop aimed at?
Anyone studying advanced composition and associated composition based modules at levels 5 and 6.
How is the workshop delivered?
This online workshop will include discussion and the opportunity to take part in individual activities. During the workshop you will need access to a DAW to take part in the activities.
About the workshop host:
Peter Wareham has been composing, producing and playing jazz, contemporary, classical, rock and pop music for over 30 years as well as being credited as one of the main architects of the current UK jazz sound. He has played and collaborated with a wide range of artists as a session and touring musician as well as having taught a diverse array of modules in Higher Education.
