What will I learn?
This workshop will introduce you to Interactive Audio and non-linear concepts for sound and music. You will learn the basics of FMOD - a Middleware tool that turns interactive audio scripting into a fun and dynamic experience, similar to audio and music design in your DAW. The idea of Interactive Audio is that you don't hear the same thing each time your press play, and that there is variety and adaptivity based on game related scenarios. The workshop will explore the tools that can make your existing music compositions dynamic and variable. Please sign up to download FMOD for Windows or Mac here before the workshop.
Who is the workshop aimed at?
The workshop is designed for those wanting to get a head start before studying the Audio for Games module as part of their course. It is also perfect for anyone interested or curious about games or interactive media.
How is the workshop delivered?
The workshop will mainly be centred around FMOD which is a middleware, kind of like a DAW for games. You will go over a number of FMOD events analysing the non-linearities, ranging from basic one-shots, to advanced ambience or musical solutions. In the workshop you will get to experiment with the software and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
